If you’re considering a Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) session with me, you’re embarking on a unique and transformative journey. TRE is a series of exercises designed to assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. As a certified TRE practitioner who combines these exercises with counseling and mindfulness skills, I offer a holistic approach to healing.
Understanding the Body and Trauma
Our first step will be exploring the connection between the body, trauma, and the nervous system. I’ll introduce you to the Polyvagal Theory, which explains how the body responds to stress and trauma. Understanding this theory is crucial as it provides a framework for why TRE is effective. We’ll discuss how trauma can be stored in the body and how releasing it can have a profound impact on your overall well-being.

Guided TRE Exercises
In our sessions, I will guide you through all the TRE exercises. These exercises are designed to safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating, which releases muscular tension and calms down the nervous system. As we progress, you’ll learn to allow your body to release stress and tension through these tremors in a controlled and therapeutic environment
What sets my approach apart is the integration of TRE with counseling and mindfulness practices. This combination enhances the effectiveness of TRE. Through counseling, we’ll address any emotional and psychological aspects related to your trauma and stress. Mindfulness techniques will be used to help you become more aware of your body’s sensations and responses, fostering a deeper connection with your inner self.
Progressing Through the Sessions
Typically, I recommend going through three sessions to ensure that you are well-equipped with the necessary skills to regulate and manage your responses during TRE. Each session builds upon the last, helping you to become more comfortable and proficient with the exercises.
- First Session: Introduction to TRE and beginning exercises. We focus on establishing a safe space and getting accustomed to the exercises.
- Second Session: Deepening the practice and exploring mindfulness techniques. We start integrating TRE with insights from counseling.
- Third Session: Refining the exercises and focusing on self-regulation skills. This session is about empowering you to practice TRE independently while being mindful of your body’s responses.
Self-Practice After the Sessions

After these initial sessions, you’ll be encouraged to continue practicing TRE on your own. This self-practice is vital for long-term benefits and mastering the ability to use TRE as a tool for stress and trauma release. However, I will always be available for guidance or to address any concerns you may have as you continue your journey.
Participating in a TRE session with me is not just about learning exercises; it’s about embarking on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Through understanding the body’s role in trauma, engaging in targeted exercises, and integrating counseling and mindfulness, you’ll gain tools that not only help in releasing physical tension but also in achieving a greater sense of peace and resilience in life. My goal is to empower you with the knowledge and skills to nurture your wellbeing independently.
